Wordpress 2.5 - First Impressions

Author: luq | Files under Blogging, software, the internet

Well, I just upgraded my Wordpress to the latest stable release of Wordpress 2.5 and I must say I am loving it!

I guess the striking benefits it has over Wordpress 2.3 is its media library, the automatic plugin upgrades and the sleeker looks over the previous version. Blogger was known to be better than Wordpress for mainly the user-friendliness and cleaner interface and with the release of 2.5 the line between the two in terms of which is better is now barely visible. You can take a look at Matt’s sneak preview of Wordpress 2.5’s media library feature below:

According to Wordpress developer Peter Westwood this version has been in development for a while now (6 months+!) and a lot more other changes have been done to it as well which you can read about here.

The Wordpress 2.5 ‘new and improved’ version hasn’t really been implemented to Wordpress.com (the free Wordpress solution) as yet. I guess a refresh in Wordpress.com as well would be appropriate at this point which would probably drive a bunch of light ‘Blogger bloggers’ to switch to the free solution of Wordpress.
