Summary
Media converters are a dime a dozen in the software market today, thus staying afloat the competition requires something out of the ordinary, WinX DVD Ripper gives you what you would look for in a media converter, nothing innovative or out of the ordinary though.

Review
WinX DVD Ripper consists of a boring grey interface again (like CounterSpy), except that WinX DVD Ripper consists of different shades of grey making it even more dull an interface, it does not support different skins so you are stuck with it. Also the border consists of a luminous blue, I don’t know where that came from!
However, the combination of colors are easy on the eye and doesn’t really burn your eyes or anything (unlike some of the Chrome themes).
WinX DVD Ripper is quite easy to use, most of the features are pretty much self explanatory, with the minimalistic, simple interface and the use of tabs, navigating through the features and performing any feature is pretty much a walk in the park. One of the issues is the output file name cannot be configured and I fail to see how they missed that tiny feature. However apart from that the application is quite easy to use.
WinX DVD Ripper manages memory just like most other converters, i.e. takes a LOT of memory. During conversion, multi tasking is ‘fairly’ possible which is reasonable compared to other converters.
The review is usually based on other converters, based on this, the fact that it allows only DVD to other formats instead of cross-conversion between any format cripples the software looking at the application as a standard media converter. However WinX ‘DVD Ripper’ is developed for this purpose and fulfills it thus the conversion properties are sufficient IMO. Most of the popular media formats MP4, FLV and audio are supported (among other formats) providing quite a bit of versatility.
It also provides comprehensive details during conversion, the possibility to convert the DVD partially and completes conversion in quite an efficient speed.
WinXDVD Ripper is available in 2 versions, a free and Platinum version, while the free version is completely sufficient providing a multitude of formats and features, for just an extra $14.95 you get support for conversion of several other formats and a few more features. The $14.95 price tag is also quite reasonable relatively.
WinX DVD Ripper is equipped with a comprehensive help file, the user friendly interface and controls already makes it convenient to use the application, the help file simplifies it further providing screenshots and explaining how to perform virtually every feature in detail.
Overall
I’d say WinX DVD Ripper is average, it provides the standard set of features you’d expect from a converter nothing that gives it an edge over its competition though, however if it is a DVD converter you are looking for, WinX DVD Ripper would be what you’d want.

I have tried WinX Free DVD to iPhone Ripper, it seems the operation of it is equal with WinX DVD Ripper. To convert DVD segment, you just need to drag the sliders on the video preview window to set start time and end time.
