Well, I recently added the ‘make money online’ category to Computer Realm and I thought I’ll start off by giving you the most popular ways that people make money online.
- Contextualized Advertising
This is the most common form of making money online, by displaying ads on your website and getting paid per click (PPC) or per impressions (PPM). Pay-per-click being the more profitable one if your site doesn’t get loads of traffic everyday.
The most popular service for this is Google Adsense.
- Affiliate marketing
In this method you refer your visitors on your website to a product or service and if they sign up you get a commission, the experiences vary and generally the ‘sign-up ratio’ is very small for any site. The commissions can be quite a bit though. You can look for individual services on various sites or find affiliates in a marketplace in services like ClickBank. (The link below for PayPerPost is an example of affiliate marketing)
- Paid Blogging*
If you have a blog you can write ‘sponsored posts’ and earn money from each post, the post would be a review or just to create ‘buzz’ for the advertiser, the prices per post vary from $5 to hundreds of dollars based on the popularity of your blog.
The most popular service for paid blogging is PayPerPost (referral):
- Selling links*
Here you ‘sell’ links on your website for a fixed amount per month; this is also an effective way to make cash online, the prices depend on your blog’s reach and traffic.
The most popular link-selling service is Text-Link Ads
Well, all of the above methods require you to have an established, content-rich site which has been up and running for some time, below are a few methods to make cash without having a website.
- Make money writing
There are some services and blog networks out there which allow you to make money for writing articles. For each article you provide you will get paid something like $5 to up to even hundreds of dollars based on how exclusive and interesting the content is, but if you have that writing capability why not start a website and publish the content, that way you would own your content and with time (time as in, several months to even a year or two maybe) you would start generating good income on a daily basis in the form of contextualized advertising from your site’s visitors.
The most popular service for this is Associated Content
- Get Paid to Click
This is a very unreliable low paid method, where you sign up and visit your ‘control panel’ where there would be ads for you to click, you will have to be on the sponsors’ website for generally 30 seconds after which you will get paid and believe it or not even the best service for this out there (ClixSense) pays you only $0.01 per click.
Well the above two services are popular methods to make money online without the need of a website, but in my opinion if you really want to make some money online you need to setup a website. Everyone’s good at something, what do you know loads of info about? Start making a site or blog right away in the niche that you prefer.
There are plenty more services and methods to make money online, I’ll be posting more on these from now on so make sure you bookmark and/or subscribe to Computer Realm.
[*Making money this way is disregarded nowadays by quite a few webmasters as Google doesn’t like them as in most cases links sold this way are irrelevant o the site’s content and falls into the ‘Black-hat’ SEO category.
