Tired of Facebook chat only on Facebook?

Author: luq | Filed under software, the internet

A few months ago Facebook launched their Facebook Chat platform. Enabling direct chat with the rest of your friends online while you are. The introduction of this feature to the Facebook social networking platform has contributed vastly to being one of the best social networking website on the web. However, chatting while on Facebook may not always be the best idea. Each time you navigate to a different page on Facebook your status switches to ‘offline’ which can give you as well as your friends a very annoying chatting experience.

eBuddy the mobile and web multi messenger client software now fully supports  Facebook chat for their mobile and mobile web messenger software platform. You no longer need to be on Facebook to use Facebook anymore! However, Facebook chat is only supported on their mobile and mobile web version. It is still unsupported on their standard web messenger. You can still however use Facebook chat on your PC without visiting Facebook by using the  lite messenger or see below.

Integration works perfectly on my Nokia 6120. The spot that generally comprises of your messenger ‘personal message’ is replaced by your Facebook status message. It also contains a random number which I believe is the internal ID used to represent a user on the Facebook chatting platform. This however is not seen in the standard Facebook chat available on the Facebook site.

Apart from Facebook chat, integration is a powerful multi messaging client which also supports instant messaging with MSN, Yahoo, GTalk, AIM, ICQ and MySpace and supports multiple accounts on each chatting platform as well. The cost of using the product is solely limited to the cost of your data provider when on your mobile.

If you are using a mobile that supports the eBuddy application I recommend you use the application instead of the web based mobile messenger as it consumes less bandwidth unless you are on an unlimited GPRS service of course.

Apart from eBuddy ReadWriteWeb has some other applications that seamlessly integrate into the Facebook chatting platform on your computer or mobile.

Thanks for the post. It is good to see you back posting again. Cross provider services are what I use. Being stuck in just on provider (like Facebook) is lame.

Thats cool to have ebuddy but think it is n’t all that safe to do stuff with your mobile; your number may go to various places and you are prone to get nuisance calls.
