Tips For Solving Frustrating EXE Errors

If you feel frustrated when your computer encounters an error, don’t worry, you are not alone. Users across the world tend to show a similar pattern of behavior when faced with PC errors. The initial reaction is usually disbelief that an error has occurred. You may not accept that something has gone wrong and may try to do same thing a couple more times. For instance, you may restart your PC twice to see if the error goes away. By this time, your disbelief turns into irritation. You stare at the error message but it does not offer any help. Far from helping, the strange looking error message and description makes you nervous and you start wondering how serious the problem is. Your stress levels are going up and you are typing faster. You look for a help button, or search the internet to find the solution. At the same time there is a fear in your mind that this problem may require a seasoned computer expert who will charge a lot of money.

As a user of computing technology, you may never be able to completely avoid computer errors, but if you resolve to address the problem head-on by gaining knowledge and employing some software tools, you will rarely have to go through the frustrations faced by other PC users.

One of the common errors that you face on a Windows computer are EXE errors. These errors originate from executable files that are used by software programs to run codes on your computer. In other words, from the launching of an application to using its various features there is an exe file that is being executed.

A few examples are given below:

  • Winword.exe file is executed to launch the Microsoft Word application.
  • Apoint.exe file is used by Alps Touchpad driver to receive inputs from a mouse or a touchpad.
  • Igfxtray.exe file belongs to the Intel Common User Interface for chipsets with integrated graphics controllers and it enables users to modify driver properties.
  • Ati2evxx.exe  is associated with ATI Hotkey Poller video card and it brings up specific ATI utilities.

You can see here that EXE files belong to both software applications and device drivers. Due to this, there are hundreds of EXE files on your computer. And, their sheer abundance makes them prone to computer errors. The following are a few simple tips that you can use to both prevent and resolve frustrating EXE errors.

Tip # 1: Virus infections are one of the most common causes of several EXE errors. So, the first task that you need to perform to prevent and fix EXE errors, is to keep your anti-virus and anti-spyware tools updated with the latest definitions and run regular full system scans to remove any malicious files or programs that may infiltrate your PC.

Tip # 2: High CPU usage and system slowdowns are caused when you have several unwanted processes (launched by respective EXE files) running in the background. Because most of these processes are loaded at system startup, you may use System Configuration (msconfig.exe) or a good third-party startup program manager to disable all unwanted programs from starting up.

Tip # 3: To prevent exe errors due to incorrect registry entries, you need to scan, clean and repair the Windows registry on a regular basis. The most simple and efficient method to do this is by using a good registry cleaner tool.

Sadly, errors are rampant in Windows Vista and generally don’t indicate anything more than Microsoft’s inability to create a stable operating system.
