I opened up the whole computer to check if there was a pci-e slot open so I can install a video accelerator. I also unplugged the button battery like an idiot. After I put the laptop back together it asks me "Enter CURRENT Password" in a black screen. I assume it's asking me for the BIOS password or the power on password. I called HP and they said "if you feel you need to work on your laptop you have to pay 300$ so we can repair it(meaning give me a password...). I love how they sell you the laptop but not the rights to "work on it" Its like selling you a car and not giving you the keys... I tried all the generic backdoor passwords, no luck. I ordered one as a college student 2 years ago, Off course since I am pretty good with computers (had majored in Software Engineering) I was able to dig me a good deal. The computer originally came with Windows Vista, but I Reformatted it clean into Windows XP, and it was ALOT faster, and plus it didn't have some of the junk software that came with the computer, hehe.
