Suck at taking Screenshots? Use This.

By

Do you take screenshots often for some reason? Maybe a computer project, or maybe you own a blog providing computer related tips (sounds familiar!), whatever the reason using the default method of taking screenshots, which is print screen > Image Editor > Crop, might not result in a perfect screenshot with the borders in perfect dimensions.

With Computer Realm, Freeware Realm, updating the screenshots for my software when releasing new versions and other custom projects, I used to find myself frequently using the ‘Print Screen’ key, now thanks to EASIS screenshot I take my screenshots in a fraction of the time and perfectly as well.

EASIS screenshot is a freeware application that lets you take screenshots of your full desktop, active window, certain components of the window or custom selection (the usual way). The main feature behind EASIS that really makes things easier compared to the usual way is the special component grabbing, where you hover your mouse over your window and it automatically detects specific components of the screen based on the frames of the window:

Once a screenshot is captured you get to see a thumbnail preview after which you may save your image in any of the popular image formats (BMP, JPEG, PNG, etc.) You can configure shortcut keys for all the features of the program via the application preferences to make things more convenient.

Visit EASIS Screenshot Website. (Windows Only)

PS – There’s a tiny bug with the application though, the program changes the cursor to one of the default ‘hands’ and sometimes might not change it back to your default cursor, nothing to fuss about I guess.

Very Cool program! Since I don’t have windows vista that comes with a default screenshot editor, I always take my screenshots manually like you did in the past with the Print Screen Button. And after I took it, I usually edited the photos via irfanview for quick editing, but if it needed more advanced editing I would go to Photoshop, hehe.

      Till then,

      Jean

Firefox has a great addon called screengrab. You can click and drag a box around what you want to capture.

Good tip, I’m going to give it a try. So far, I’m using MWSnap which is also a nice tool. But it’s one of the many, I suppose.
