The main reason for your computer to get slow overnight is the lack of space in your hard drive. Specifically the main system drive (by default the ‘C’ drive). Keep at least 20% or 2.5 GB free. A better solution would be to partition your hard drive in such a way that your ‘C’ drive should contain around 5GB and reserved for just the operating system and software, files should be saved on the other drives.

While your computer might look nice with the new Vista Transformation pack installed on your system, using your computer won’t be a very ‘nice’ experience, and this applies to all other themes available as well. Removing the upgraded visual style you’ll notice an instant increase in your computer speed. The best theme to use would be the default theme, or better still the Windows ‘classic’ theme. While wallpapers and screensavers slow down your computer a bit as well, this decrease in speed is pretty much negligible.
