Overview

Registry Easy is a registry cleaner and PC optimizer. If you are having issues like slow speeds, sporadic freezing sessions, lack of disk space and other errors you might want to read on. Registry Easy is an economic solution to fixing much of your PC woes.

Features

  • Registry Cleaner

The main feature behind the application (based on the name of the software) is its Registry Cleaner, the Registry Cleaner hastily scans the computer and detects any invalid or orphan entries and deletes them. Having issues with your registry contributes to reduced speeds and longer startup times and getting rid of these issues should help fix your computer.

Putting the cleaner to the test, I scanned my personal computer for errors and found around 2000 of them. If you are skeptical, it provides an automatic (which can be turned off) backup feature which maintains the uncleaned version of your registry in case the clean up causes any issues.

  • 1-Click Maintenance

The 1-Click Maintenance feature is a relatively new feature of the software and bundles the aforementioned Registry Cleaner with a few other maintenance tools like an Evidence Cleaner (to clean traces from your browser), Junk Files Cleaner (which scans and deletes any non-required files that just occupy space on your hard drive), Block ActiveX (protects your computer from harmful ActiveX controls), System Optimizer (general ‘under the hood’ optimization) and Uninstall Manager (clean up files left from old application uninstalls).

Running the 1-Click Maintenance tool regularly, which can be automated (see below) will ensure that your computer stays clean and error free at all times. The scan takes around 6 minutes to complete which is reasonable.

The 1-click scan found 2182 problems on my personal computer and impressively enough, I have noticed performance to be quite a bit smoother than before (mainly in the startup area).

  • Backups

Registry Easy ensures that your files and computer is safe from any mishaps that occur when cleaning the system or otherwise. A collection of backup utilities have been incorporated which lets you back up your registry, files, favorites and also create restore point to roll back your computer to a past state if required.

  • Optimize System

This consists of a suite of applets that make registry modifications to optimize your computer based on purpose, internet connection and also tweak memory. Putting these features to the test, while the changes may not be dramatic it visibly increases the performance of your system.

  • System Fix

The System Fix suite of utilities allows you to instantly remove any minor errors, invalid registry entries and vulnerabilities within the system, fixing invalid shortcuts and file associations as well as refreshing the DLL libraries can all be done using the System Fix utilities which in turn contributes to better computer performance.

  • System Tools

The system tools consist of a handy ‘toolbox’ of utilities that lets you perform actions such as recovering deleted files, joining and splitting files, recovering passwords from popular applications such as Live Messenger and Google Talk. A startup manager and also an uninstall manager.

A startup manager and uninstall manager are quite worthless IMO since they are available by default in Windows.

  • IE Tools

This is another set of features I find has been included to just bloat this great software. Granted, I religiously loathe Internet Explorer for very justifiable reasons, most of the features are already available within the Internet Explorer settings. If you happen to be a fervent supporter of the browser though you might find the ‘IE Restore’ feature useful which performs numerous tweaks to optimize the browser.

Customization

The application also provides a few handy customization features, the main feature being scheduling of 1-click scans, other features include an ignore list in case any legit registry entries are being flagged by the application and a few other preferences as well.

Interface

You shouldn’t be able to find any complaints about the software’s interface. It is pretty much perfect. Pull-down menus and tabs have been incorporated to make efficient use of space and also add a touch of effects as well as striking icons makes the app a pleasure to use.

Price ($40/year)

There are literally tons of software that claim to deal with the same issues that Registry Easy fixes, in fact some free software too. In my opinion though, if you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and experimenting with different tools and digging into the system registry by yourself you might get yourself a better deal but I also think it isn’t worth the trouble.

Registry Easy is a solid piece of software, with the numerous extra tools included, for example, a file recovery tool has been incorporated as well, such tools alone are separately sold for the same price as this entire application, so I think it’s worth if you consider the entire package.

Negative Feedback

While when I tested it, the application boosted my computer’s performance, there are situations where users tend to notice the opposite. I believe this depends on the applications installed on the system. Registry Easy seems to be very merciless with junk on your system and sometimes this tends to act negatively because it removes registry entries and files required by the system. Therefore make sure you backup your system and create a restore point because there is a slight chance of this happening too. In most cases though, Registry Easy improves the conditions of your computer.

Conclusion

It’s quite hard to find any extra features that can be added to an application meant to optimize and clean up a computer so in my opinion Registry Easy quite worth a try and if you are not satisfied there is always a money back guarantee which can be requested for.

Does this work on Windows 7? I have a shared computer and so much installed junk on it is starting to run sluggish. I visited the site and saw that it was designed for XP and works on Vista. I may have missed something though. Thanks!

Regarding Registry Easy, I would like to say that it progressively degraded the performance of my Vista Ultimate operating system to the point where I had no other option but to re-install Vista. I did not realize that the aggressive registry cleaning was causing my problems until the same thing happened to my second (laptop) computer. Vista was reinstalled on both computers, Registry Easy was removed from both, and that was the end of the drama. The support service of Registry Cleaner told me not to use the system files cleaning / error fixing function. But despite unchecking that option, both computers “died” and could only be brought to life again by re-installing Vista and removing the paid-up Registry Easy.

Thanks for the feedback, I guess the optimization depends on the programs installed on the computer. In some cases, Registry Easy seems to be great at optimizing the system, while in other situations like in your case, it acts completely adversely. I hope you got yourself a refund.

Thanks for the reply to my comment. I did not ask for a refund, because I got the impression from the Registry Cleaner support service that they were trying their best with their powerful cleaner. Registry Cleaner will really speed up your computer. But not for long and you will be sorry soon enough. I’ve rejected other paid-up programs like that as well, for instance Bitdefender Internet Security. It did protect me from virusses but was an absolute pain in other respects. I bought GData Antivirus two month after paying for Bitdefender, and have been happy ever since as far as staying ahead of the virusses is concerned. I have the feeling one should “take it like a man” when advertising lures you into buying software which disappoints you. Its the same with all other merchandise, or am I wrong in my philosophy?

I’ve never heard of GData, until I googled it now though and apparently it isn’t very popular, but I guess if it does the job, it doesn’t really matter. As for securtiy, I’ve tried most of the popular software and found Kaspersky to be the best in terms of detection and memory consumption with nod32 being a close 2nd. When it comes to being disappointed with shareware I look for a refund if the software is ridiculously disappointing compared to what it advertises to do.

Thanks for the response. GData is produced by a German company. It is a huge program (something like 150 MB for the setup file) but not resource heavy at all when operating. It incorporates the engines of both Avast and Bitdefender and has the highest detection rate of all anti-virus programs. The ease with which you can buy and get Kaspersky running is unfortunately not matched by GData. I had some trouble getting off to a good start and was for instance forced to pay through PayPal. But I managed to reach the support service and sorted out the problems. Once you have GData Anti-Virus running, you won’t return to Kaspersky. It is a dream program, totally non-intrusive as well. I recommend the basic Anti-virus version of GData. Unless it disappears from the market, I will not go back to any of the programs I have used over many years, such as Kaspersky, which was good but not as good as this. I have a child who tends to surf to wherever the virusses are, but since I installed GData on his computer as well, he has been unable to reach any such site.
