General Ratings
Software specific ratings
Rating Description
Features a general web browser interface. Additionally support browser content skinning. Also skins could be downloaded from the Opera website.
Easy to use application. Supports bookmarks in toolbars. Contains built in search engine features for popular websites (Google, Amazon, etc.). Also supports keyword search (e.g.: g [search term] to search Google, etc.) In addition it has a ‘wand’ a password manager.
Consumes very little memory, takes virtually no time to launch. Memory consumption increases as more tabs are simultaneously used.
Quite a popular program which has gained a considerable amount of good ratings and recommendations.
A real bargain for $0.
Bug-free application
This browser is recommended for slow connections as it displays the content as it is loaded unlike most other browsers which loads the entire or half a web page’s content and then display it. Due to this system it uses even though it may be relatively slow to load the entire page it is still considered as a fast browser.
One of the main weaknesses in the browser is some websites are not supported by Opera. One out of quite a few examples maybe the Google page creator control panel.
Ensures privacy with a ‘delete private data’ feature where users could easily select which temporary files to delete (cookies, history, etc.).
Contains basic plug-ins (Flash, Java) which are not pre-installed though. Contains plenty of add-ons or ‘widgets’ which provide many useful features including search engines, weather forecasting tools and even games. One of the main advantages of the program.
