Chrome was released much hype with Google promoting it via their home page too, and the word was all around the blogosphere and the Internet, and as expected that has pretty much died away now, Google Wave is the next big thing from Google currently having its round of buzz. While Chrome is great and many have switched from Firefox to Chrome I’m still sticking with Firefox now mainly because of the Addons.
However, I’ve got to hand it to Chrome for the interface (i.e. their default skin). I like the tab arrangement, the blue all round (I’m a fan of blue) and the fact that it’s not the same old kind of interface that browsers usually have. It never really occurred to me that a replica of the Chrome theme would be available for Firefox but while writing up another post I stumbled upon the Chrome Package Addon (to make it look just like Chrome it installs an Addon as well as it restructures parts of the interface, mainly the tabs).
The Addon is actually an improved version of the Chromifox Basic theme which was another shot by another developer to make Firefox all ‘Chromed up’ but it didn’t really get there as much as Chrome Package did. There are a few glitches though, maximizing the browser covers the task bar even if the task bar is locked so unless you don’t mind it you’ll have to leave the window non-maximized.
Apart from that I think it’s a pretty good impression of the Chrome theme and I’m currently using it however I might switch back to the default if the non-maximized state starts to bother me.

I love Chrome because of the performance. I love Firefox because of the utility. I’m somewhat torn on the UI of both.

I like Firefox, which has been my main browser for several years now. I have used Google Chrome in the past and like it for its simplicity and ease of use. I find that Firefox’s multiple add-ons are sometimes overused and can be duplicated in other add-ons. Sometimes I’ve used the add-ons because I thought they were going to be something that would help me but ultimately they ended up being more bulky and slowed down my system instead of the opposite. I think an alternative to this would be Flock, Firefox’s engine with simpler add-ons which makes it more comparable to Google. I think what it comes down to is what you are using your system for. For multifunction, Firefox is clearly the best with it’s add-on features while Google or Flock are for those that don’t need all the extra bells and whistles. Ultimately, I think it’s a tie!
