SearchStatus is a Firefox addon that is virtually a necessity for every serious webmaster or blogger. SearchStatus is a statistics tool that lets you identify key features of any website letting you instantly know the quality, popularity and features of a website.
It gives you an estimate of a website’s traffic by allowing you to display the Alexa and Compete rank of a website. It acts as a ‘detector’ for Alexa and Compete as well, as with the plugin installed all website visits are taken into consideration for Alexa and Compete rankings and can be used as a substitute for the Alexa or Compete toolbar and it occupies only a fraction of the space on your browser that an entire toolbar does.
Apart from Alexa and Compete ranks it can also display Google page rank of a website. It contains ‘quicklinks’ in the context menu of the SearchStatus icon giving you easier access to specific information on websites including:
Apart from access to common links that give you more details on a specific web page it also lets you highlight NoFollow links which is a useful feature when building backlinks for your website letting you instantly know if a blog’s comments or forum posts have the ‘Nofollow’ tag attribute their links. It also lets you instantly view a link report on a website displaying how many internal, external and ‘NoFollow’ links have been found on a page.
It is compact and versatile, occupying only a small portion of any part of the browser that you specify and letting you choose what you display on the interface, sites to exclude and which WHOIS source to use for WHOIS searches.
While everything seems about perfect with the addon, the Keyword density report feature appeared to be a bit buggy when testing it. Other than that it’s a pretty clean addon all round.
I would highly recommend this addon for webmasters as it speeds things up when researching other websites and keeping track of where your website stands.
