Review

  • Interface – 5/5

Excellent interface. Features a stylish appearance like most anti virus software, and supports other preferences like transparency as well. Contains a tab-based interface aligned to the left.

  • Ease of use – 5/5

Uses simple self explanatory terms, barely contains any tool-tip text. Contains a few technical terms in the program options, which are clearly explained in the user manual though.

  • Memory Usage – 4/5

Does not take much memory, slows down the booting up of the computer a bit as it takes time to load. While scanning, CPU usage is manageable, Kaspersky allows multitasking during scanning as opposed to some of its competitors.

  • Popularity – 4/5

Has gained a considerable amount of popularity during recent time, with pretty much the highest detection rate in the market and advertising on popular software indexes, Kaspersky is now one of the most popular antivirus solutions around.

  • Price(~$40.00) – 4/5

While $40 may not be the cheapest, it is still quite reasonable in comparison with other software in the market, also it provides many features (the highlight being the excellent detection rate) that no other anti virus can offer which makes the program worth its money.

  • Speed – 4/5

Takes around 15-45 minutes to perform a full scan, which is very efficient, in comparison, other programs can take several hours to perform a full scan, this factor depends on the performance on your computer as well, but on average, a scan rate of that stated above is comparatively very efficient.

  • Virus detection rate – 5/5

Based on other online sources and individual assessment Kaspersky Anti-Virus may have earned its reputation as the anti-virus with the best detection rate. Apart from having an excellent detection rate, it also supports heuristic protection to prevent supposed viruses which haven’t been discovered yet to invade into the system.

  • Updates – 5/5

Updates are available everyday from the Kaspersky servers so you can be guaranteed that you are protected even from the latest threats. One weak point here is the speed of their servers, it supports a comparatively slow download rate so it is best advised that you update the signaturesdefinitions everyday or you’ll have to wait quite some time before the update is complete.

  • SecurityBackup Measures – 5/5

Supports various backup features, by storing backups of deleted files, creating a rescue disk to recover data incase your computer is virtually destroyed by a virus and even backing up your previously updated definitions incase the latest updates are corrupted.

Overall (5/5)

While the program may contain a few drawbacks, the main feature (detection rate) is what is required in an anti virus application and therefore Kaspersky anti virus stands as one of the best Anti Virus application currently available.
