Rating Description

  • Interface

The ImTOO DVD ripper features a simple, user-friendly interface in terms of screen positioning of items, it also supports skins which gives the user a fresh look whenever the user needs one. As most applications it uses a menu-based interface as well.

  • Ease of use

This application is simple to use. Allows conversion of DVD files just as simply as choosing from a menu.

  • Memory usage

Under normal circumstances, as in when a rip is not in process, the memory usage is good, but during the ripping process it uses quite a bit of memory and the computer is best left alone, when the conversion is in progress, especially if you have a RAM of under 512MB. While this maybe a negative point of the application, this memory consumption behavior is typical of most video editing tools.

  • Popularity

While this application is quite popular, sadly this popularity is not in the legal sense (as it is quite popular on illegal torrents included with serials), in most legal software sites it is rarely on the popular list, this definitely doesn’t mean it is not a good application though.

  • Price

$35 is quite reasonable for this software type, most other video editing tools’ price ranges are somewhere around this price.

  • No. of bugs

While using the application I barely came across any bugs at all, so it’s a pretty clean application.

  • Time of conversion

Time of conversion is one of the most important factors in these type of softwares and this software averages around the border, it would take around 2-3 hours to convert around 90 minutes of a video, coupled with the memory consumption, these two are the main negative points about the ImTOO DVD ripper.

  • Conversion formats supported

This application supports lot of conversion formats like AVI, MPEG,DIVX,MP3,WMA,etc… but as the name suggests (‘DVD ripper), the source file has to be a DVD file, which is a disadvantage.

Overall (3.75/5):

This application is an average video editing tool but there are certainly other better video editing tools out there.
