Ah what would we do without ads. The Internet is virtually driven by ads, and rightfully so, tons of content are available for free and website owners reward themselves by placing annoying and awfully distracting ads on their content websites. Sometimes, ads (like the famous free smileys one) are optimized to annoy website visitors by having audio appended to them, now who doesn’t love to be startled every once in a while when casually surfing by a piercing ‘oh my god’ from one of those smiley ads right?
Sometimes, however once you close your browsing window, tab or the entire browser itself, the audio continues to play. If this has happened to you, you’re probably using IE, the excellent (SARCASM) browser that it is, sometimes the program fails to exit properly and still exists in the memory.
An easy fix to get rid of it would be to end the process, and of course switch to another browser! To end the process hold ctrl+alt+del or ctrl+shift+esc, switch to the processes tab, look for the ‘iexplore’ process, end it and your misery would come to an end.
There you go, another reason to switch to Firefox.
