whenever i plug in my external disk, windows searches the disk for quite some time and gives some suggestions, even if i customize it to not take any action again, the process is repeated the next time, anyway how to get rid of it?

IF you are saving the 'take no action' setting and it does not get saved it could be an antivirus or antispyware program that's restricting registry changes, do it again and check the logs of your AV and AS programs.

You could also disable it using the following:

go to start > run > "gpedit.msc"
Computer configuration > Administrative templates > System
Right click 'turn off atuoplay' and click properties.
Select 'enabled'.

thanks for the hack, but i didn't need it, the antivirus tip did the trick!thanks again.

Removable devices such as usb and thumb drives will 'autorun' certain files when the device is plugged in. This is what allows USB worms to spread rapidly from one person's computer to another, very reminiscent of the 'sneakernet' viruses of the early 90s, which spread via infected floppy disks. It's a good idea to change this Windows default and disable the promiscuous autorun feature.
