CommentLuv, DoFollow, Post Ratings and Full Feeds!

By

I’ve added a lot more functionality to the blog to benefit our site visitors. Firstly the CommentLuv plugin which searches your last feed entry from the website you provide and displays it below your comment. So, the more you comment you now get more exposure to your blog or site!

The next thing I did was remove the blog’s default NoFollow feature to comments. It was implemented by default to keep spammers away but with Akismet working it’s a** off to keep spam away (and it’s doing an excellent job) I thought NoFollow could be removed to help commenters get a few backlinks. I was able to do it with this hack made simple in Doug’s post.

Update – I have now disabled DoFollow, Read more here.

Well, the next thing is the PostRatings plugin which allows you to rate a post from 1 to 5, with this plugin it’ll help you pick up the special posts from the rest of the heap, currently since the plugin has just been installed there aren’t enough ratings to have a ‘top rated’ list of posts but with time I’ll probably add the ‘Top Rated’ posts to the sidebar to make it easier for you to get to the content easily. Please don’t abuse this system by giving a 5 for a post which you thought sucked and vice versa!

update – A few days back I removed this feature as it was abused and didn’t really add value to the site in anyway.

And, finally I decided to let you see entire posts when you subscribe to Computer Realm feeds instead of just a summary to make life easier for my subscribers. I initially allowed only summaries because I was worried about scrapers stealing my content, then I figured keeping things convenient for my subscribers is more important!

That’s why i’ve done the best i can to reward commenters who add content to the site, i think the webmasters are worried about spam, as it becomes difficult to handle, with thousands of spam comments daily with these features turned on, but for now i guess i can handle the spam coming in,thanks to Akismet.

I’ve noticed a huge difference in the number and quality of comments after I installed CommentLuv. Especially when people see I approve comments that are of value in bot information and aren’t simply one liners that want to get links back to their site.

I would encourage anyone who has a blog to seriously consider installing the CommentLuv plugin and at least consider removing the nofollow tag. Sure you might get a few spam comments, but you can always delete these instead of approving. Remember, comments are content for your site, fresh content, and if the person leaving the comment has written something of value then it can help when the search spiders crawl your site for fresh content.

      Interesting!
CommentLuv helps you reward your commentators by separating their name from their keywords in the link to their site. This gives them improved anchor text, which can help their site rank higher in the search engine results.
You can now leave a comment with your name as well as a keyword of your choice here and get a PR5 link back to your site! How cool is that? People pay big bucks for that and all you have to do is comment here.

The success of link building depends on the number of relevant incoming links that we receive, which results in good SERP and more traffic.DoFolow Blogs are a great way to get quality backlinks to your site.
The DOFollow Blogs are provided with either the KeywordLuv or CommentLuv option.
KeywordLuv is very useful tool where we can place our Keywords in the name Field while commenting, but this encourages spam.
While in CommentLuv,you can place the anchor text along with the name field and at the end of the comment post your latest blog post will be displayed with the post.

Its in the human nature they always try to spam something which gives them even a little bit of an advantage. I run a few forums and i had dofollow there before but had to change it to nofollow because of the amount of spam. Most of them are humans and not automated programs. Comments like ( Great Post ) ( Appreciate the contribution ) and ( Wow its amazing ) are posted quite often and at once one can know its spam.

I would only say if you need a backlink from a comment…you should earn it…at least read the post and comment if you have knowledge on it.

I agree with other people in here, I don’t understand why more people don’t use these plugins because it helps both parties involved. The commenter gets a link and the webmaster gets content and a link. My blog is a dofollow, has commentluv, and keywordluv as well. I find they help my site out just as my instructor taught.

I like the way your site followed you in the application and use of these great tools for us wp bloggers. Very informative and educational, I will return to read and learn more, thank you.

I really liked this plugin, this is one solution for bloggers to get the back links. And I was not surprised when blogs that use CommentLuv always a lot of comments lol

      Hi,

This is indeed a powerful plugin. If you leave comment mod on, then spammers have no effect (other than a little time wasted in “cleaning”).

      Thanks.

Is the increase in traffic you get from commentluv useful traffic? I’m considering it for my website but I’m not sure how it will benefit me financially.

Impact of dofollow blogs is remarkable. I really like the blog that use the comment keyluv and dofollow. But to build links is not easy and very boring. Do you have tips to solve this problem?

Comment Luv has really been a great tool for my website. I’ve been using it for a while and received a lot of Spam. I used the Gasp plugin with Comment Luv and it really fixed the spam. Nice website! Thanks for the tips.

If I understand right, ultimately you found that you were better off not encouraging fellow bloggers to leave behind backlinks?
