• What is System Vault?

System vault is a privacy tool that lets you hide files and folders and protect the hidden directories and files with a password.

• What Operating Systems does System Vault function on?

• How much does System Vault cost?

Nothing. System Vault is absolutely free.

• How does System vault hide my files and folders?

System vault hides your files and folders by assigning hidden + system attributes to your files and folders. While this is a very basic method to secure your files and folders, most computers don’t have this files to visible as it is a potential risk to have system files exposed into the computer, thus it is a very efficient method. However, we are aware that to ensure privacy, more advanced techniques need to be used therefore we are currently working on a future build which will offer more protection to your files and folders.

• I re-installed System Vault can I retrieve my directories and files back?

When you re-install the application your hidden directories and files would be reset so you cannot retrieve it the normal way. You’ll need version 1.15 or newer to get your directories back. At the bottom of the ‘Unhide file or folder’ window you can type in the path of the hidden files or folders and retrieve it. Also, to avoid losing your directories and files when re-installing the application in future you can now export your list of paths and import it if you need to.

• Does the password get reset if I uninstall the application?

No. You can use the same password before you uninstalled the application.

• Can I retrieve my files and directories if I lost my password?

You will have to use Disk Heal for this. In the ‘fix’ tab, at the bottom you can type in the full path of the hidden directories and files. and retrieve them

• Can I use System Vault again if I have lost my password?

Yes, but you’ll need to re-format your computer to do so. (password does not get reset when re-installing the program)

• When I use System Vault, I get a message saying that the COMDLG32 component is missing, what do I do?

Comdlg32.ocx are required components to run System vault, this is generally installed into the system directory, however a security feature in your computer may prevent installation of the file. You can install it manually by downloading it from here and copying it to your system directory (default: “C:/windows/system32″), Re-launch the application.

• What compatibility issues may I run into when using System vault on Windows Vista/7?

The above issue may occur due to the User-Access control feature, we recommend disabling the User-Access control feature when using Disk Heal on Vista/7.

• What is Disk Heal?

Disk Heal is a useful tool that tweaks your PC and fixes common computer problems. Initially it  was a program which fixed disk problems that occur after a virus has been removed with a few additional features like changing the icon of a drive. Currently it performs various other tweaks as well.

 

• On what Operating Systems does Disk Heal function on?

 

The entire program was written and tested on Windows XP but based on user feedback and testing, it functions on the following Operating Systems:

 

Windows NT
Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows Vista*
Windows 7*

System Requirements:

Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista* or 7*.
32MB RAM
Administrator privileges

Troubleshoot

 
• I fix the folder options/task manager/registry editor inaccessibility but once I restart the computer I still cannot access these features?

 

First check if you have administrator privileges and the restrictions weren’t made on purpose. If so your virus is still active, and it keeps recreating the restriction, so use an Anti Virus Program to eradicate the virus and retry the procedure.

 

• I try restoring a folder/file I lost because of a virus and it says the path is invalid?

 

Make sure that the path has been typed correctly. If so, the file/folder may have been deleted instead of hidden.

 

• I am unable to assign an icon to one of my drives, what do I do?

 

You are probably using the old version of Disk Heal. Download the latest version.

 

• The tweaks do not work. Why?

 

Some anti virus or anti spyware programs prevent Disk Heal from performing its functions as a security measure. To make full use of Disk Heal permission should be granted by the anti spyware\Anti Virus programs.

 

• Some anti virus \ anti spyware programs flag Disk Heal as Risk Ware. Why?

 

Disk Heal makes changes to the registry, As a security measure these programs flag Disk Heal as Riskware as changes made to the registry could produce adverse results as well. Disk Heal guarantees though that changes made by Disk Heal are purely beneficial.

 

• I forgot the Security Tweaks entry password. What do I do?

 

If you forget the password you can never recover it again.  The only option would be to format the drive to use the ‘Security Tweaks’ page again.

 

• When I launch Disk Heal, I get a message saying that the TABCTL32 or COMDLG32 component is missing, what do I do?

Tabctl32.ocx and comdlg32.ocx are required components to run Disk Heal, this is generally installed into the system directory, however a security feature in your computer may prevent installation of the file. You can install it manually by downloading it from here(tabctl32.ocx, comdlg32.ocx) and copying it to your system directory (default: “C:/windows/system32″), Re-launch the application.

 
• What compatibility issues may I run into when using Disk Heal on Windows Vista or 7?

 

Some of the tweaks may not work with Windows Vista/7. A future build is currently being developed for full Vista compatibility. If the application does not run entirely, do the following:

- Right click the Disk Heal EXE file and click ‘Properties’.
- Go to the ‘Compatibility’ tab.
- Check ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and choose ‘Windows XP (Service Pack 2)’
