Beware of Skype hoax Trojan

Taking on a similar look of skype with its installer named ‘65404-SkypeDefenderSetup.exe’, once installed a user would see a similar convincing enough interface of Skype with minor differences like for the ‘sign in’ button. If in case the login credentials are entered it is sent to another server along with stored passwords from Internet Explorer’s auto complete feature.

The Trojan has been spread across the web via spam and through IM conversations as well linking to the hoax application. Luckily the application does not propagate itself, therefore is not widely spread.

Keep away from the ‘65404-SkypeDefenderSetup.exe’ or similar application if you see it available in an untrustworthy source.
