When it comes to download managers there are only a few good known ones available, namely, DAP (download accelerator plus), IDM (internet download manager), Flashget and FDM (Free download manager). So what’s number 1 out of these?
For people who don’t know, a download manager is an application which manages your browser downloads and accelerates them by up to even 600%. For people who don’t use them and are complaining about download speeds I suggest you use one.
FDM as the name suggests is totally free. DAP has both versions but I guess the free version is sufficient and the gradient isn’t that big when it comes to features between both the versions.
Flashget is free as well. IDM has only a trial version 0f 30 days after which you’ll have to purchase a registration. The difference between these download managers are small but the best would be IDM.
Why? It’s the fastest. It splits the downloads into a maximum of 16 streams while allow only a maximum of about 10 streams. While the number of streams it divides by doesn’t actually increase download speeds much beyond 5 streams it helps a bit with the speed and also helps download from servers.
So IDM is the best.
If you don’t want to pay for a download manager the next best option would be DAP’s free version then. It displays banner at the bottom of the download screen, it’s only a bit slower than IDM but it also has a much nicer interface.
